Recently, a Delhi Police Constable was hit by a speeding Black Scorpio SUV and flung into the air, while conducting a vehicle check at Connaught Place area on the night of October 23, 2023.
In another incident, a 27-year-old Police Constable died after his bike was rammed by a rashly driven car in a bid to overtake near Bakhtawar Chowk in Gurugram, around 3 am on December 4, 2022.
Also, A CISF Constable in Mumbai died after a 19-year-old allegedly rammed him in a speeding BMW car at the checkpost near Mumbai Airport on October 3, 2023.
In a similar incident, a SI & Constable in Mumbai were hit by a driver in a speeding Audi car on the Bandra Worli Sealink who fled the spot, while impact was so high that the constable flung into air before falling on the road around 2 am on Feb 28, 2023.
It can be concluded that due to less visibility at night time, incidents of accidents involving police personnel performing their duty are on the rise. Police officials at check posts and on motorcycle Patrolling are most at risk. The probability of such incidents become more severe in winters when the nights are longer, much darker, dense fog is present, poor air quality causes smog to last longer even in early hours of the sunrise
